absolute emptiness – in haiku

empty is the mind
that remains idle, and its
hands are too active

empty is body
when it is left to waste, self-
-beaten, weak, -abused

empty is the heart
that cannot find a true love
vices found instead

empty is the soul
of those who are blind by faith
and those blind by none

empty are beings
who do not properly tend:
mind, body, heart, soul

  2. I think you covered all the bases there - and in haiku, nonetheless! Well done!

I'm also into haiku (Haiku Koo-Koo) and I'm going to check out those sites you recommended. (Thank you!)

  8. I especially loved the first and the fourth - the first a surprise twist on an old proverb I (and many others, no doubt) grew up on.

  9. Very nice set. Isn't it interesting that haiku has morphed into this form? I have done several sets myself. There's one up on my blog called Anywhere At All. I think this is really tight the way you tie up the aspects of self that need tending and elegantly expressed through an elegant form. Well done. Thanks Gay
